Chamisso sedge (Carex pachystachya, Cyperaceae) is a grass-like perennial native to western North America from Alaska to Saskatchewan and south to California, growing up to 1.2 meters tall in dense clumps of erect stems. Dense or open clusters of flower spikes bear pistillate flowers covered in reddish or brown bracts. The fruit features a distinctive brown or coppery perigynium with metallic sheen and a long dark tip.

Chamisso sedge occurs in dry to wet areas within forests and grasslands. Detailed cultural requirements, pest and disease associations, and cultivar information have not been documented. The profile is a stub awaiting enrichment.
