Data Maturity Baseline

This profile contains verified disease data from extension databases. Regional field notes and expert review are in progress.

Brown stain discolors wood in infected trees, causing internal browning without obvious external symptoms initially. You may notice decline and branch dieback as infection progresses. The condition is often associated with stress or environmental damage that weakens tree defenses. Proper tree care and stress reduction are primary management tools.

Management depends on catching it early. Scout susceptible plants regularly and remove affected tissue before the pathogen can spread. Improve growing conditions by addressing drainage, spacing, and irrigation practices. For persistent or severe cases, contact your local Master Gardener program or Extension office for treatment options specific to your host plants.
