Deciduous shrub reaching 4 to 8 feet with fine-textured foliage and delicate white flower clusters in spring. Produces small blue-black berries attractive to birds; foliage turns golden-red in autumn.

Native understory shrub tolerating partial shade and moist soils. Hardy and low-maintenance; does not require pruning. Valuable for wildlife gardens and naturalized woodland settings.
