Fremont silktassel (Garrya fremontii, Garryaceae) is a native broadleaf evergreen shrub ranging from central Washington through the Cascade and Sierra Nevada ranges to the Klamath Mountains of southern Oregon and northern California, reaching 5 to 15 feet tall with many-branched form. It is dioecious, with male and female flowers on separate plants.

Fremont silktassel grows in full sun to part shade on well-drained soil, hardy in Zones 6a to 8b. It is less heat- and cold-sensitive than G. elliptica and requires no summer irrigation once established. No cultivars are in the trade.
