Marilee® fills a specific design niche: virtually fruitless + narrow upright form + white double flowers. The combination is unique among common crabapples. For PNW landscapes specifying fruitless crabapples for patios, courtyards, near pools, sidewalks, and under utility lines, Marilee complements the older 'Spring Snow' (20-25 × 15-22 ft single white) and 'Prairie Rose' (20 × 18 ft double pink) by offering the narrow upright form (24 × 10 ft) those alternatives lack. Good-to-excellent disease resistance per JFS supports reliable performance. The unusually large double white flowers give Marilee substantially more visual impact at peak bloom than Spring Snow. Cross-reference fruitless crabapple decision tree: 'Spring Snow' (single white, rounded form, more scab pressure), 'Prairie Rose' (double pink, rounded form), 'Marilee' (double white, narrow upright form). Cross-reference fruitless decision tree: 'Spring Snow' (single white, rounded), 'Prairie Rose' (double pink, rounded), 'Marilee®' (double white, narrow upright).
