Nanking Rhododendron

A broadleaf evergreen shrub known as the Nanking Rhododendron, a subspecies of R. argyrophyllum distinguished by its silver-backed foliage. One cultivar is noted in the nursery trade. Blooms on previous season's growth.

Requires acidic, well-drained soil in part shade. The silver indumentum on the leaf undersides provides ornamental interest through all seasons. All parts are toxic if ingested.
