Teddy Bear Rhododendron
Rhododendron 'Teddy Bear'
Ericaceae · broadleaf evergreen shrub · introduced
Last updated
A broadleaf evergreen shrub of yakushimanum parentage, 'Teddy Bear' is named for the thick, woolly indumentum on the undersides of its leaves, which is particularly prominent on new growth. Compact habit. Flowers are typically pink in bud, opening to white or soft pink.
Requires acidic, well-drained soil in part shade. The dense indumentum is the defining ornamental feature, providing tactile and visual interest year-round. The yakushimanum heritage contributes compact growth and cold hardiness. All parts are toxic if ingested.
