A deciduous azalea native to north-central Alabama, western to central Georgia, and South Carolina, reaching 4 to 6 feet tall and wide. White tubular funnel-shaped flowers appear with the leaves in late spring. Medium growth rate.

Moderate to high drought tolerance once established. Acidic, well-drained soil. Twenty-one diseases and 15 pests documented at the genus level. All parts contain grayanotoxins and are toxic if ingested.
