An evergreen shrub reaching 6 feet. Large openly funnel-shaped flowers, about 4 inches across, white faintly flushed pink with occasional crimson rays at the base of the tube. Slightly sweet scent.
Fragrance is uncommon among elepidote rhododendrons and distinguishes this cultivar from white-flowered peers. Acidic, well-drained soil. Twenty-one diseases and 15 pests documented at the genus level. All parts contain grayanotoxins and are toxic if ingested.
