An evergreen shrub reaching 3 feet. Openly campanulate flowers, 6-lobed, light yellow with deeper shading of brilliant yellow. One parent of 'Nancy Evans', contributing deep yellow color and compact habit to that popular hybrid.
Among the most intensely yellow-flowered compact elepidote rhododendrons. An important parent in the yellow-hybrid breeding lines that produced 'Nancy Evans' and subsequent generations. Acidic, well-drained soil. Twenty-one diseases and 15 pests documented at the genus level. All parts contain grayanotoxins and are toxic if ingested.
