An evergreen tree reaching 30 feet in habitat (smaller in cultivation). Large flower clusters of 12 to 30 campanulate blooms. Notable for the yellow flower color on a large-leaved, tree-sized species.
One of the largest-growing yellow-flowered rhododendron species. Tree form and ultimate size require substantial space and a sheltered site. Acidic, well-drained soil. Twenty-one diseases and 15 pests documented at the genus level. All parts contain grayanotoxins and are toxic if ingested.
