Rhododendron 'Ramapo'

Ericaceae · broadleaf evergreen shrub · introduced

Last updated

A broadleaf evergreen dwarf shrub reaching 2 ft tall and 2 to 4 ft wide, taller in shade. Distinctive for foliage that changes color through the year: new growth emerges dusty gray-blue, matures to dark green, and turns deep metallic color in winter. Flowers are light violet-purple. Hardy to -25F.

Full sun on acidic, well-drained soil. Medium growth rate. Among the hardiest dwarf lepidote cultivars in the trade. The seasonal foliage color changes provide year-round ornamental interest beyond the spring bloom period. Twenty-one diseases and 15 pests documented at the genus level.
