An evergreen shrub reaching 4 feet. Flowers open from pink-red buds through apricot to ivory flushed with pink, fading to nearly white, with a delicate blotch. Funnel-campanulate form. The multi-stage color shift produces a truss with several tones visible simultaneously.
The progression from pink-red bud to apricot to ivory is one of the most complex color shifts among rhododendron cultivars, with multiple stages visible on a single truss at peak bloom. Acidic, well-drained soil. Twenty-one diseases and 15 pests documented at the genus level. All parts contain grayanotoxins and are toxic if ingested.
